58th Jamboree on the Air -
a weekend of Radio Scouting fun!

16th - 18th October 2015
- We will be doing our best to provide as many Radio Scouting activities as possible for Scouts to take part in at Jamboree on the Air this year. We have been loaned some temporary aerials and will also have an internet connection via mobile broadband so we can take part in JOTI too.

JOTA & Radio Scouting

Jamboree on the Air is the highlight of the Radio Scouting calendar, when Scouts have the opportunity to practice many of the skills they have discovered during the year. The Northampton Scout Amateur Radio Group has taken part in JOTA every year since 1981. We will be running this years Jota station from Spotley Wood, Grafton District's Scout campsite located near Yardley Hastings.

Scouts having fun at Jamboree on the Air

The picture says it all - Radio Scouting is great fun! Members of the Northampton Scout Amatuer Radio Group enjoy a break in between visitors at the 56th Jamboree on the Air. We didn
'tknow it at the time, but this was to be the last JOTA in our own radio station at Overstone after 28 years.

8N23WSJ at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree

Between 29th July and 7th August 2015, the 23rd World Scout Jamboree at Yamaguchi in Japan will be on the air with their own, fully equipped amateur radio station using the callsign 8N23WSJ. The station will be offering an exciting Radio Scouting programme to the Jamboree participants.

Radio Scouting and the Scout Training Programme

The Scout training programme provides opportunities for Radio Scouting and associated technology based activities in all sections. Requirements for some of the Challenge Awards and the International Friendship Award can be completed and Activity Badges are also available. In 2014 the new Beaver Scout Communicator Badge was introduced as well as the Digital Maker and Digital Citizen staged badges.

 Information Technology  Staged Activity Badges

The Information Technology staged activity badges offer a young person the opportunity of gaining an award appropriate to their individual level of knowledge. Staged badges are available to all sections from Beavers through to Scout Network.
