62nd Jamboree on the Air
Celebrating 62 Years Connecting Scouts
18th - 20th October 2019

In the Beginning...

The first Jamboree on the Air was held in 1958 following the success of the amateur radio station at the World Scout Jamboree at Sutton Coldfield in 1957. JOTA is the largest international Scouting event in the world with over 1.5 million Scouts and Guides taking part.
JOTA 2018
JOTA & Radio Scouting

Jamboree on the Air is the highlight of the Radio Scouting calendar, when Scouts have the opportunity to practice many of the skills they have discovered during the year. The Northampton Scout Amateur Radio Group has taken part in JOTA since 1981.

We will be active on 28MHz, 21MHz, 14MHz, 7MHz and 3.5MHz on the HF bands as well as 144Mhz on the VHF band.

On the Air with Echolink
and Skype?

Once again this year we will be using the Internet to enhance our Jamboree on the Air station. We will be on the air with Echolink which allows us to contact Scouts around the world using amateur radio via the internet. In previous years, Skype has added a new dimension allowing Scouts to communicate via video link which will be repeating again this year.
